Learning Objective:
- Understanding chemical processes in aquatic systems and how they are connected
- Quantitative assessment of chemical equilibria to processes in natural waters.
- Evaluation of analytical data from different aquatic systems.
Content:
The course is an introduction into chemical processes in aquatic systems. The lecutre includes the following topics:
- Acid-bases reactions
- Carbonate sytems
- Solubility of solid phases
- Weathering
- Redox reactions
- Complexation of metals
- Reactions at solid / water interfaces
- Apllications on lakes, rivers and groundwater
